Jody Mitchell, Founder & CEO
Mitchell & McCallum, Get Dignity First Care

My journey into care began long before I founded Mitchell & McCallum, Get Dignity First Care. I started on the floor as a support worker where I experienced firsthand the real challenges and quiet triumphs that come with walking beside someone on their support journey. Those early days taught me that dignity isn’t a buzzword, it's a right. And when people are truly seen, heard, and supported with empathy, they thrive.

I first found my calling in youth residential care, supporting children and young people who had been handed complex lives they never asked for. That experience changed me. It showed me the power of being present, of simply listening and standing alongside someone when they need it most. That became my foundation: compassion, connection, and real, honest care.

When I moved into the disability support space, everything just clicked. It felt like I was exactly where I was meant to be. Since then, I’ve made it my mission to build a service that lifts people up not just with words, but with action, consistency, and heart.

I designed Mitchell & McCallum, Get Dignity First Care to fill the gaps so many others overlook. I’ve seen what happens when agencies rush, cut corners, or place untrained staff in roles they’re not prepared for and I knew I could do better. So I built a team from the ground up hand-picking every single team member based on their character, passion, and alignment with the values I live by: integrity, empathy, and excellence.

These are my Superstars. They wear their uniforms with pride uniforms I personally designed to include a smart, embedded QR code. It’s not just a feature it’s a message: that we are here to be open, transparent, and truly accountable. Anyone can scan that code to give feedback, learn more about who we are, or connect directly with my team. It’s my way of giving every participant a voice, and making sure it’s heard.

I’ve also put in place a strict no-phone policy during support hours. When my team is on shift, their focus is where it should be: fully present, right there with the person they’re supporting. That’s what respect looks like. And that’s how trust is built.

This isn’t just a business to me. It’s a commitment backed by full compliance with the NDIS Practice Standards, the Disability Act, Mental Health Act, and every relevant framework. But more importantly, it’s backed by my belief in people. In their potential. In their right to grow, choose, and be supported with kindness and care.

I created this service because I believe there’s a better way and I’m proud to say we’re living it.

Because at Mitchell & McCallum, Get Dignity First Care, I don’t just support people
I walk beside them, every step of the way.
